1. Registration & Participation

1. Participation in BURGER NATION 2025  is open to all New Zealand-based commercial businesses that serve food.

2. Entry is $120+gst per venue, with a special Early Bird entry fee of $99+gst per venue.

3. The Early Bird entry fee of $99+gst is valid from 1 – 31 October 2024. 

4. Each venue can enter up to four burgers (one per category) in Meat, Chicken, Seafood and Plant. 

5. This competition is conducted by Cook & Nelson on behalf of McClure’s Pickles, 9a Vincent Road, Northcote Point, Auckland, New Zealand. 

6. BURGER NATION runs from 29 January – 2 March 2025.

2.1 The Burgers

• Your burger creation must be an actual burger with a patty (meat, chicken, seafood or plant) sandwiched between two bread buns. Because we know the party hasn’t really started until the pickles get amongst it… you need to include some McClure’s Pickles on, in or with your burger.

• Entries will be accepted in four burger categories: Meat, Chicken, Seafood and Plant. 

• The burger(s) must be clearly displayed as a ‘Burger Nation’ entry on a blackboard or menu throughout the competition period.

• If BURGER NATION receives a complaint about a burger name or description, the venue will be advised and given an opportunity to rename or rephrase the burger. If they choose not to then they agree to withdraw from the competition and remove any reference or association with BURGER NATION.

3. Marketing 

Cook & Nelson will provide all participants with:

• Posters, stickers and table talkers

• Digital branding for use on social media and website

• A national public relations and marketing campaign for BURGER NATION

• A national social media campaign for BURGER NATION

4. Judging

• BURGER NATION will be judged by burger lovers across the motu. The burgers that get the most votes in each of the competition categories - Meat, Chicken, Seafood and Plant - will be judged the winners. The burger that receives the most votes overall will be judged the Overall Supreme Winner. The burgers that receive the second-highest votes in each of the competition categories will be judged the Runners-up. 

• Voting will begin at 9am on 29 January 2025 and end at 11:59pm on 2 March 2025. Winners will be announced Wednesday 5 March 2025.

4.1 Voting Process

• Burger lovers can vote once in each category (Meat, Chicken, Seafood, and Plant-based) and votes can be for different venues. 

• Votes must be submitted through the official competition website.

• Upon voting, participants will receive an email to verify their vote. Votes will only be counted if they are verified via this email link.

• Any duplicate votes or unverified votes will be automatically disqualified.

• Votes can only be cast for the venues participating in the Competition.

4.2 Fraud Prevention

• To ensure the integrity of the Competition, each vote must be verified through the email provided by the participant.

• The Competition organisers reserve the right to disqualify any votes or venues suspected of fraudulent activity or vote tampering.

• IP addresses and other digital verification tools may be used to prevent fraud or multiple votes from the same user.

• Only votes from New Zealand IP addresses will be counted.
